Nothing feels as good as dad socks feel.

I've made a recent discovery and I really need to share it. Dad socks are the most overused yet underrated luxuries in the world. Remember when you wore your dad's old over-sized t-shirts to bed as a child? Now it's acceptable to wear something equally as comfortable all day, every day.

The quintessential dad sock will support your sore feet through those long days at work. They will get you through that ambitious four mile hike without a blister in sight. They can be paired with some fleece pajamas in front of a warm fire at home while they comfort you like two perfectly worn in foot blankets during those cold, harsh winter nights.

Thorough research on the topic has led me to discover that everyone has a different preference when it comes to dad socks. Some like the thin adorned type that are covered with argyle prints, while others prefer their adventurous cousin- insulated SmartWool's. There are business dad socks and athletic, holey dad socks. They smell but you love them anyway. Gold toes are also good, but I prefer the thick, ribbed discolored kind. They've been worn hundreds of times, of course, so they are comfy; yet they have a certain durability to them that makes you feel like you could conquer the world. They feel good in loafers, booties and tennies alike. Some even wear them with sandals:

Maybe you don't have a dad, or he's a massive asshole and you'd never want to wear his socks. In this case, I sincerely suggest you reach out to a male in your life above the age of 40. Uncles and grandpas are deemed to have just as good quality of socks as dads. Maybe you have a coworker who doesn't mind sharing his leftovers? He probably wears some good socks too.

Sometimes it truly is the simple things in life that can provide the most comfort and style. Can't stop, won't stop wearing dad socks like they're cashmere sweaters in the late 90's.

My dad hated when people wore white socks with sandals. He would talk about it often and I'd like to think he would appreciate this. For his 40th birthday party, his friends and co-workers threw him a surprise party with a strict dress code of socks…

Shout out to Rob Roy, father of one of my favorite babes Jenna, whose socks have been keeping my feet warm all winter long and was the sole inspiration for this post.
